Evaluating Member Experience & Program Success in Project SHORT

Comprised of volunteer professional health and graduate students, residents, faculty, and post-docs, Project SHORT (Students for Higher Education Opportunities and Representation in Training) is the first 501(c)(3) nonprofit to offer pro bono mentoring for both professional health and graduate school admissions.

Each year, the directors of evaluation and development for the pre-graduate side of the program conduct an end-of-application cycle (EoC) survey of mentees and mentors to measure the organization’s success in providing mentorship and resources to prospective graduate students.

As a co-director of evaluation and development, I wanted to share a brief report from the EoC surveys. Overall, Project SHORT’s services maintain high ratings from mentees and mentors, and most survey respondents received grad school admission offers. Project SHORT continues to close gaps in the hidden curriculum of applying to graduate school, and it is an incredibly rewarding organization to be a part of.
